Business Capacity Building with Riley Matthews Film and Photo
Community-led initiatives should be at the heart of all recovery projects. Our community members know their strengths best and how they can put their skills to best use to support others. When the team at Riley Matthews Film and Photo submitted an application to the Community Fund Scheme to build business capacity through their digital marketing skills, we were excited to see an out of the box approach to offering business support. $10,000 allowed Riley to engage with 5 Falls Creek businesses who were impacted by the disruption to business resulting from the Bogong High Plains Road landslip event. Riley’s expertise in the digital marketing world combined with his experience from growing up in Falls Creek meant he had a connection and passion for providing business support. He was able to tailor each session to the business, identify their needs, supply them with a digital marketing package full of content for their social media and backed this up by upskilling them in effective ways to use digital media to increase visitation. This project was so well received that a second round this project was opened up to a further 5 businesses, afforded through the Falls Creek Community Recovery Program.
