Changes to Resort Access
Due to the recent landslide events that have been occurring on the northern access route of the Bogong High Plains Road the Department of Transport (DoT) has now closed the road from Mt. Beauty to Falls Creek, for all access as it is impassable for vehicles. Authorities are working toward a relaxation of the road access constraints by Christmas subject to ongoing assessment of the site. This is due to the ongoing safety risk.
The southern access route from Omeo and Mitta Mitta to Falls Creek has now been re-opened for residents, staff, and urgent works contractors to enter the resort. We ask that visitation be minimised, as the resort is currently operating at a minimal capacity (limited operating days and hours of the supermarket, no medical service, and a minimum travel time of 2 hours for Emergency Service responders such as Ambulance Victoria or the Victorian Police).
We understand that summer works are due to be undertaken on buildings within the resort and may not be able to be delayed. Stakeholders attending the resort for matters of this nature may do so by accessing the road from Omeo or Mitta Mitta.
Under the Fall Creek Emergency Management Plan, Falls Creek Alpine Resort is required to know who is in the resort in the case of an emergency situation, so you can be notified. If you are planning to visit the resort for contracted works that cannot be delayed please click this link so you can register your intended dates of stay within the resort.
We understand that this limited access is very disappointing to those visitors intending to visit Falls Creek over November/December. It is extremely disappointing to Falls Creek Resort after the challenges of the past few summers and we do hope to see you at the resort when it is safe to do so.
