MTB de Femme back in Falls Creek for 2024!
February 9, 2024
Falls Creek is thrilled to welcome back the MTB de Femme event on March 22 – 24, 2024 to its original location after a temporary relocation to Big Hill MTB Park in 2023. The event, along with all other Falls Creek events were temporarily relocated or cancelled due to the major landslide that blocked access to Falls Creek last year.
What is MTB de Femme?
What sets this apart from many MTB events is that is it purely social with no race aspect. We believe that mountain biking isn’t just a sport, it is a community.
“To watch women supporting and encouraging each and forming friendships over the weekend is why we host the event.” says Jo Prothero from All Ride MTB, the event organiser.
Participants connect with like-minded people and become instant riding buddies. And who doesn’t love an excuse for a weekend away with girlfriends!
Falls Creek offers trails for riders of all levels, with recent additions including three new blue gravity flow trails since the 2022 event. Falls Creek is the perfect place for progression and fun without the fear factor.
Ticket Options and Activities
Participants can choose from various ticket options, including full weekend passes, single-day access, and an adventurous 50km backcountry ride from Falls to Mt Beauty. Weekend Itinerary
Friday: Warm-up and Film Night
Friday offers a relaxed warm-up ride, museum visit, and an evening of cycling short films at the Big Bike Film Night. Saturday: Skills Sessions and Challenges
Saturday kicks off with coffee and skill-building sessions led by The Fastline Bikeademy coaches. Options include group rides and an epic 50km backcountry challenge. The evening features a trivia night with a nod to mountain biking history. Sunday: Pilates, Skills, and Farewells
Sunday commences at a slower pace with a Pilates class before we step it up with a maneuver skills session which will include learning to bunny hop, jump and tackle the pump track. Alternatively, you can choose to head for a leisurely guided ride. Lunch will be provided before we have a fun pump track competition to round off the weekend. For those who don’t need to rush off, there will be another screening of the Big Bike Film Night.
“We truly hope the weekend ignites a passion in participants for mountain bike riding. From my own experience, the benefits extend much further than just the bike. It improves general fitness levels, connects you with nature, requires full focus (like meditation) and connects you with a community.” says Jo (Event organiser, All Ride MTB).
