Peaks Challenge 2022

March 11, 2022

We had a great time over the weekend watching the nearly 1800 people pedal their way up and over mountains. The Peaks Challenge is truly a test not for the faint of heart, and proves year on year to be a drawcard for those who love cycling and pushing their limits. It was an epic day with the race starting early in perfect weather and heading on into the evening, with a few threatening thunder clouds at times, but nothing to write home about.

This year, supporters were encouraged to attend again, which had the village buzzing and made for a great atmosphere as the riders crossed the finish line.

Congratulations to Jack Aitken with a time of 7:13:39 and Emma Padovan with a time of 8:47:59, who were our fastest male and female of the day, respectively.

The 235km route started at Falls Creek, and followed the road down to Mount Beauty. From there, riders pushed themselves up over Tawonga Gap and down into the Ovens Valley to Harrietville. Then it was another grueling climb up and over Hotham, through Omeo and around the back of Falls Creek to the finish line. With over 4000 metres of vertical climbs, what a challenge Peaks proves to be! To earn the finisher’s jersey is more than a prize, it’s a symbol of the extraordinary mental and physical feat you accomplished and how you triumphed over the pain of 13 hours riding and months of training.

We loved it all. Are you going to be ready for it next year? Sign up here for a challenge you won’t regret.
