Public Access from Mt Beauty to Open by April 25th!
Falls Creek is pleased to announce that the winter season will be business as usual with public access to the resort direct from Mt Beauty opening by 25th April 2023.
After what has been a tough summer, with a landslide cutting off the main access to Falls Creek Village via the Bogong High Plains Road in October, the team are excited to confirm that there will be single lane access well in time for the winter season and two lanes will be open by the peak season in late June.
This announcement follows the commitment from Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) that, subject to favourable weather and ground conditions, the access road will be open between Mount Beauty and Falls Creek by 25 April so pre-season preparations can commence.
Since taking over the management of the landslip recovery works Major Road Projects Victoria has carefully assessed the situation and have advised that they are now confident that it will be able to provide at least a single lane of access to through traffic by 25th April, ahead of Winter.
Last year was a record season for visitation and we expect 2023 to match that, which is why our businesses continue to grow with new bars and restaurants set to debut this winter, a brand new magic carpet for tobogganing at the Windy Corner snowplay area, the return of Falls Creek Lift’s popular full day kids lessons program for both Snowclub and Junior Workshop, and we have one of the biggest winter event calendars to date, so this will be a season to remember!

FAQs
Can I access Falls Creek before then?
Yes, the resort is still open and accessible via the Southern BHP Rd via Omeo. Please be mindful there are limited village services available for visitors, please see our What's On page for the most up date information on dining options. The MTB park is open for riders however there will be not shuttle service or bike patrol for the remainder of the season.
There is a 4WD, (soon to be AWD) access road available around the landslip for essential workers and residents only. To apply for a permit to use the track contact Falls Creek Resort.
Are any events going ahead this Autumn?
While most of our events have been cancelled, there are two events able to proceed due to their size and minimal support requirements. The Australian Grand Traverse will proceed on March 25th, and the Alpine Challenge will go ahead on the April 22nd-23rd. Participants for these events will simply need to arrive to the resort via the Southern BHP road.
