Update – Queen’s Birthday Weekend
The Victorian Government's announcement on changes to circuit breaker restrictions for regional Victoria has come as a relief to Falls Creek Resort and its community.
While we are disappointed that at this stage it looks like we will not be able to welcome our friends and guests from metropolitan Melbourne, we understand the extension to keep all Victorians COVIDSafe and healthy.
What does that mean for the Queen's Birthday long weekend at Falls Creek? While those that reside in metropolitan Melbourne are unable to join us for the traditional opening weekend, the resort will still be operating. Accommodation providers will be open, hospitality venues will be serving your favourite beverages and delicious meals, albeit under current capacity limits and ensuring guests check-in at each venue they attend and are visiting from a permitted region.
The traditions that typically take place on the Queen's Birthday Long Weekend have been postponed to ensure we are aligned with regional Victoria public health measures. As large gatherings are unable to take place, the traditional 'opening of the lifts', fireworks show and numerous functions will not proceed as usual. A new date will be announced once restrictions ease and we can hold these spectacular events again.
"We are looking forward to welcoming guests back to the resort for the 2021 snow season. It will be a quiet start to the season without the usual celebrations and social gatherings but we acknowledge it is best for all Victorians for it to be done this way" stated Stuart Smythe, CEO, of Falls Creek Resort Management.
"2020 was an extremely challenging time for everyone, but particularly so for our business operators and the Falls Creek community. There is much anticipation for the season ahead, with all our businesses keen to bounce back from 2020 and welcome our guests back to Australia's premier winter village," Mr Smythe said.
Director of Marketing and Communications, Sarah Watt, urged guests to purchase their resort entry vehicle permit online and in advance of arriving at the resort.
"Things are a little different this year and we ask all visitors to plan ahead and purchase their resort entry permit, lift tickets and book accommodation in advance to ensure they have a more seamless visit to the resort," Ms Watt said.
"This can all be completed online before you leave home and it will assist guests in getting on the slopes quicker."
Falls Creek Resort looks forward to welcoming regional Victorians and our interstate guests back into the resort over the Queen's Birthday weekend and our metropolitan Melbourne guests once it is confirmed safe to do so.
